Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C conventional with a 6.5" cast iron inside.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Pour in the buttermilk and mix until a large dough ball has formed.
  4. Remove the skillet from the oven and add the butter. It should immediately melt. Swirl it around.
  5. Transfer dough to the pan (right on top of the melted butter) and spread to the edges. Pre-cut the biscuits as desired to fit the pan.
  6. Bake in the oven for 18 minutes until golden brown on top.
  7. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
